Arjen works as a patent consultant since April 2025.

He was from 1990-1993 and from 1998 – March 2025 Patent Examiner in search and examination in the European Patent Office, processing thousands of patent applications. Arjen handled numerous opposition cases and chaired Oral Proceedings in opposition at the EPO. He worked in many fields in his career at the EPO, including packaging, electrical connectors and switches, printing products and machines, security features and suspension systems.

From 1989-1990 and 1994-1997 he programmed CAD systems in the German car industry.
