Simplified validation procedure for european patents in Denmark

The Danish Parliament has on March 24, 2015 approved a bill that simplifies the validation procedure for users of the patent system. The amendments concern the rules of patent law on the validation of European patents filed in English in Denmark and on fees for publishing patent documents.

As from April 1, 2015, when proceeding with the validation of a European patent, which is filed in English, only Danish translation of the claims is required. For European patents in French and German the translated description with any drawings must still be supplied upon validation. Valid translations remain Danish and English, and the claims in Danish.

The Official filing fee for both national and European patents will, as from April 1, 2015, be DKK 2000, regardless of the number of pages, claims and drawings.
